We now have 4 puppies left of a Betsy and Sammy Litter. They will be ready to ship 11 January 2008
These guys are so Ravin'! (At least one of them is, anyway)
Sammy and Betsy Pups are here again! These guys are going to be great working cattle dogs or great agility dogs. The pictures of Roxie do not do her justice as she is perfectly marked. (By popular demand, we welcome back the Puppy Princess!) Ready to go 28 December, however we will let them go a few days early for Christmas. We can ship them after the 11th of Jan 08. These guys cannot be shipped until they are 8 weeks old on the 12th of January 2008. We are asking $350 for each Pup. Click here for details on shipping your puppy.
The Hobby Farmer Crew
We got Betsy from a training facility that was being surrounded by housing developments (Yuk! the thought of suburban encroachment jus gives me hives!). Anyway, she is National Stock Dog Registered and had her first litter on 8/17/2006. She is absolutely the sweetest little dog in the world. She let us hold her pups right from birth, she is highly athletic (she is the only one that can outrun Sammy) and has a great disposition.
In an effort to improve the quality of our already successful breeding program, we recently brought added Dagmar's NickatNite, or "Nicky" to the Broken Cedar Kennel. Nick is AKC and ASCA registered and we feel he will provide our hearty agility and working dog line with some refinement and show quality. Welcome l'il fella
We believe that the Australian Shepherd is the most Beautiful Intelligent, and Loyal dog there is. When we moved to the country, we wanted a dog that was a faithful watch dog, good with livestock, and one that had the Energy to keep up with our daughter. We found every bit of that and more in our first Australian Shepherd, Sally.
Sally was our first Aussie and she is absolutely devoted to our family. We bought her to serve as a guardian on the farm for Hayley (AKA Puppy Princess). We didn't know about socializing Aussies and as a result, she is cautious of any stranger until she gets to know them. Totally devoted, she is an icon here at the Broken Cedar (Just ask the UPS man!). We plan to retire Sally form the breeding program in the next year.
Sammy came to The Broken Cedar after he and his first mate made their owner's feinting goats feint too much. (Herding them makes them "feint") It is a defective gene bred into these goats by angora sheep owners to allow them to be eaten by predators as opposed to the more expensive and prized angoras. Anyway, many people breed them as they are great pets for young children (So I hear). Sammy has the strongest herding instinct of the pack and is almost always the first one to the ball (Our collective, favorite pass time). He is a tremendous example of the breed standard in appearance and behavior.

If you want to put a deposit on one of the pups through PayPal, call to check for availability and then send $100.00 to bethy@hughes.net or we can send you an invoice.
We can ship your pup to almost anywhere in the US. The cost is about $275 and it includes:
The USDA will not allow us to ship these guys until they are exactly 8 weeks, not one day before. Please don't ask us to try to ship before then as we just cannot do it. Thanks Fast Eddie
Previous Litters
This is the second litter from Betsy and Sammy. They are eligible to be registered under the NSDR, have great herding instincts and are extremely athletic. They were born on 14 March 2007. Click a thumbnail for a better look!
